The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is an agency within the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and is the official Combat Support Agency for countering weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high explosives). DTRA's main functions are threat reduction, threat control, combat support, and technology development. The agency is headquartered in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Job Duties & Accomplishments:
- Geospatial analyst for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Intelligence dept
- Perform GIS analysis and map creation for reports and presentations used by the
DTRA director, senior leaders, members of the military, and congress - Utilize ESRI suite products in both desktop and online formats
- Database management, data integration, and online mapping on multiple domains
- Edit and update various vector datasets to include roads, rivers, points of interest,
areas of influence, and physical and administrative boundaries - EWork alongside other GIS analysts to identify data from a variety of sources
- Developed policies & procedures to standardize GIS utilization & implementation
- Interact with customers & producers to assure data is current, accurate, & uniform
- Improved office efficiency by streamlining the production of GIS enabled briefings
